Verdict
This is the exact cover size Amazon needs.
Full cover size — with bleed
12.52" × 9.25"
3756 × 2775 px @ 300 DPI · spine 0.27"
- Page count. 120 pages is within KDP's printable range (24–828).
- Spine text. At 120 pages your spine is wide enough for text (KDP allows it at 79+ pages). Keep text 0.0625" off each spine edge.
- Color mode. Export the print cover in CMYK, not RGB (RGB is for eBooks). Convert spot colors to CMYK.
- Fonts. Embed all fonts in the PDF before uploading, or Amazon may reject the file.

How the size is calculated
Your full cover is wider than the book itself, because it's the back cover, the spine, and the front cover printed as one image — plus 0.125" of bleed on every outside edge. The width is (2 × trim width) + spine + 0.25" and the height is trim height + 0.25". The spine is the part people miss: it grows with your page count, so the cover for a 120-page book is narrower than the cover for a 200-page book at the same trim. Common questions
Is this KDP cover size calculator free?
Yes. The calculation and the correctly-sized cover template are free with no account needed. It's a one-time, pay-once tool philosophy — no monthly subscription.
What does the calculator give me?
Enter your trim size, page count, and paper type, and it returns the exact full-cover size KDP needs — width, height, and spine — in both inches and pixels at 300 DPI. You can also upload your cover to check it against that target size, DPI, and bleed before you submit to Amazon.
How does it calculate the spine?
Spine width = page count × paper thickness (0.002252" per page for black ink on white paper, 0.0025" for cream, 0.002347" for premium color). The full cover then adds 0.125" of bleed on each outside edge. Every number is verified against KDP's live Cover Calculator.
Will this guarantee Amazon accepts my cover?
It catches the errors that cause most rejections — wrong full-cover size, low resolution, missing bleed, and spine text on a book that's too thin. Design at the exact size it gives you, export in CMYK with fonts embedded, and you've cleared the common reasons a cover bounces.
